Our Story

About HER5

Two mums. One shared passion. A league built to prove that motherhood doesn't mean the end of your sporting journey.

How It All Started

We both grew up playing football together locally and now represent Dorset. We've experienced first-hand the development, confidence and sense of belonging that sport brings. Last season we proudly wore sponsored kit from the Steven Bernard Foundation while competing in an international tournament in France, which reinforced how powerful community backing can be for women's sport.

But there was a problem. There is currently very limited provision for adult women's football locally. Many women either travel significant distances to play or drop out of the game entirely due to lack of opportunity.

So we decided to build something ourselves. Not just a league — a community. A place where women can come together to play sport, stay active, socialise and support each other. That's HER5.

The Mission

Provide reliable, organised football that women can commit to with confidence. Set fixtures. Qualified referees. Full affiliation and insurance.

❤️

In Memory of Amie

Our late coach Amie was passionate about expanding opportunities for women in football. This league continues her legacy of access, visibility and leadership.

🌟

The Vision

Build a supportive network where women feel seen, valued and part of something bigger than just fixtures.

Why It Matters

More Than Football

This balance is personal to us. One of us is a mum to a newborn and the other is a mum to two toddlers. We understand first-hand how difficult it can be to prioritise sport when you're juggling motherhood, work and daily life.

That is exactly why this league matters. We want to create an opportunity that works around real life, not against it, and shows that becoming a mum doesn't mean the end of your sporting journey.

We want to bridge the gap between informal sessions and full 11-a-side commitments, offering something competitive yet manageable for women balancing work, family and other responsibilities.

What We Believe

Our Values

01

Community First

Beyond fixtures, we're building connection. Post-match socials, team meals, presentation evenings and community events are central to who we are.

02

Affordable for Everyone

We believe cost should never be a barrier. All of our PAYG sessions and league matches are a fixed £6 — no hidden fees, no sign-up costs. Just turn up and play.

03

Professional Standards

Qualified referees. Full FA affiliation and insurance. Clear rules. A safe, professionally run environment that women can rely on.

04

Just Have Fun

No pressure, no judgement. Whether you're here to compete or just to have a laugh with mates — the most important thing is that you enjoy it. Life's too short not to.
